Discussion: Africa Needs Investement And Partnership
L’Uomo Vogue‘s May issue is dedicated entirely to the “rebranding of Africa,”. It delves into a topic rarely explored by fashion magazines: World politics! In fact, the whole issue is dedicated to the “rebranding of Africa”, and features the unlikely cover star of 67-year-old Ban Ki-moon, the Secretary General of the UN.
The magazines showes of a side of the continent different from the war-torn, poverty stricken representations we often see in the media. The issue celebrates Africa’s thriving culture– its artists, musicians, and of course, its growing fashion scene. L’Uomo Vogue‘s Africa issue comes at a time when more and more people, the fashion industry included, are looking to the continent as a fresh source of inspiration and innovation.
Cover model and UN secretary general Ban Ki-Moon, says “Africa does not need charity, Africa needs investment and partnership.” What do you think?
