Festival Guide: 70ties Inspired Outfit Ideas For “By The Creek” Festival

70ties Inspired Outfit Ideas For “By The Creek” Festival – When it comes to laidback festivals in the summer sunshine, continental Europe is your playground. Today we have our spotlights on the urban friendly  By The Creek Festival in The Netherlands. The festival takes place at resort area Middelwaard close to Utrecht, in a natural surrounding with a lake for cooling dips. It also features the kind of line-up to generate heart-throbbing party moments.

By The Creek Festival is as much about hanging out and enjoying the setting as it is about the music. The line-up is quite impressive, with the likes of  Hudson MohawkeBondaxJungle DJ-set,  Kris Kross Amsterdam, Johnny 500, Washington and Jayh Jawson on the bill.

It’s time to shake off being a reasonable grown-up and stick some flowers in your hair, slap on a Flash Tattoo, and channel a cool look that your parents would never have let you wear when you were a teenager. That doesn’t mean hitting the festival scene is easy. The “WHAT DO I WEAR” problem still remains. Don’t worry, we’ve covered everything you need to know about the latest “festival season” trends, especially for lake friendly festivals.

One thing is sure, the 1970s are back and fashion’s most full-on decade has never looked better. Flares, platforms, fringe and suede dominated the runways and it will dominate the festivals too.

OUTFIT IDEA 1: Flared Pants
Skinny jeans are no more aloud on festival ground! There’s been a new style on the rise – flared pants or flared jeans. Who does not like a pair of old dusted flare pants that make your legs long for days and fit your wild child festival heart. I’d rather go for flared pants instead of jeans, just to keep the perfect sartorial 70s summer vibe going on.

And yes, skinny jeans looked great on ALL body types but with flared pants it’s all about fitting.

In flared styles a high waist will add more curves, or play up your curves if you’ve got them. Plus they will elongate your silhouette.
You can also opt for flared pants that are skinny on the legs & fitted on the hips. It’s about balance, and creating a flattering silhouette: tiny waist, long body, slightly curved.

OUTFIT IDEA 2: Tops to wear
The three tops to try: the structured tee (in leather, denim, or, if you’re feeling up to it, suede), the lacey bralet or the sporty “looks like a bikini” bralet.

OUTFIT IDEA 3: The skinny scarf trend
Skinny scarves fall among the fashion trends that are more decorative than practical. Honestly, what good is a skinny scarf against the chilly evenings? But in light of the current ’70s movement, the finishing accent has become an outfit-completer that a slew of stars and fashion insiders have embraced.

OUTFIT IDEA 4: Chokers
Chokers are in Fact, the New Flower Crowns at festivals. Another reason to make grand accessory statements again.

OUTFIT IDEA 5: The flirty dress
The flirty dress with retro prints is definitley a bohemian inspiration. Draw the fun with floor grazing, airy silhouettes. It’s all about showing legs, legs, and more legs.

OUTFIT IDEA 6: Tigh high boots with shorts
Pairing boots with shorts is a good way to get some use out of your favorite boots in the summer months, and is an easy way to make a plain outfit look super stylish. When deciding what shorts to pair with your boots, think about how dressy your shorts are and where the hem hits your thigh.

Which 70ties inspired outfit idea would you go for?
